James began roofing in 1980 in Bellevue while still in high school, and worked for two roofing companies over the next 16 years before launching out on his own in 1996. James’ vision for his brand new company was that it would be founded upon the ‘Cornerstone’ of ethical business practices while providing quality workmanship you can trust.
In February 2023, we will be entering our 27th year in business. Cornerstone Roofing has grown from a team of five in 1996 to more than fifty today. Amidst the growth, James, along with Bill, created a roofing-specific web based software program that helps Cornerstone and other roofing companies manage roofing projects from the initial CAD drawing program to the proposal creation, material list, scheduling, and final job costing.
James is CertainTeed Shingle Quality Master certified, and has achieved CertainTeed Roofing’s SELECT ShingleMaster Tenured Member status, the highest credential level a company can earn with CertainTeed. Today, James works mostly on the commercial roofing bid requests and works with homeowner associations, church and school boards, and apartment/ town home/ condominium associations.
James and his wife, Tawni, live in Bothell, and have two grown daughters, two sons-in-law, three adorable granddaughters, and two Puggles. In James’ spare time, you can either find him on a golf course or on a beach in Mexico with a good book.
